Patio Dining

Did we just completely skip spring and jump into summer? By the feel of today yes I think we did. Which reminds me that one of my most favorite parts of eating at VOLT is outside on the patio. Completely relaxed, come dressed as you are, no reservations required. We’ll be serving Sunday brunch, lunch and the snack menu for outdoors dining. Officially open Sunday, May 1. Perfect timing for Sunday Bloody Mary’s - the best anywhere!

Affair of the Heart

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

We are fortunate to live and work in such a wonderful City that has so many non-profit organizations helping the community. We have teamed with a handful of organizations since we’ve opened through a variety of fun auction items.

For last month’s 13th Annual Catoctin Affair, benefiting the Mental Health Association of Frederick County, VOLT offered a cocktail party in our courtyard. This auction item went on a wild bidding war and bid out at $5,500 to one lucky winner and her friends. Thanks to all who participated and I look forward to seeing you at the cocktail party.

This item was such a great success for the MHA that we’re doing it again!

Here’s your advance notice to make sure to attend the Heartly House’s Fundraiser, Affair of the Heart on May 13 where you too can bid on a cocktail party at VOLT. Heartly House is a great organization which provides comprehensive services for victims and survivors of domestic violence and child abuse.

Enjoy a cocktail party for 20 hosted by Chef Bryan Voltaggio in the VOLT patio with entertainment provided by pianist Paul Warthen. Mix and mingle with your friends over cocktails and h’ordeuvres as you chat up Chef Voltaggio about his favorite recipes. Maybe he’ll even give away some culinary secrets so you too can be a top chef at home!

Please attend, have a great time at the Affair of the Heart on May 13th, bid big and help a wonderful cause.

As Always, Hilda.

Miss me?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

I miss me and I see me everyday. Can’t believe last posting was in February. Wow wee. What happened to the time? I think with all of the social network sites you all must be getting Volt’ed out. Sometime even I found out new information on social sites about VOLT. So I just haven’t posted much lately. I keep getting scooped by outsiders.

So did everyone see Bryan’s Backyard Ale was named by Esquire Magazine as one of the Best New Beers of Spring and Summer? Well, its Flying Dog’s beer but it has Chef’s face on it and he teamed up with the guys from Flying Dog to create it, so I’m just calling it Bryan’s beer. I hear its really good. I wouldn’t know first hand since I WASN’T INVITED for the tasting so I’ll wait along with you for the premier. More information on that premier coming soon.

Save the date for Mayfest. One of my most favorite First Saturdays, May 7th as downtown Frederick celebrates springtime with a full day of flowers. Build a bouquet as you visit all of the downtown restaurants and stores. But make sure you pay a visit to VOLT where we are having buckets of calla lilies delivered just for you and stop and enjoy a speciality flower infused cocktail we’re introducing that day.

For more information on all activities for Mayfest please visit our DTP site.

As always, Your in blog, Hilda.
