Ze phones, Ze phones

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Lately, I’ve been feeling like Tattoo on Fantasy Island. Running around screaming about ze plane, ze plane or was it ze phones, ze phones. OK whateve, whateve (sorry T/C fans I had to slip that one in)!

We’ve been getting many emails like this one below:

Hi! I keep calling the Volt number to try to make a reservation for Table 21 and keep getting a recording that the mailbox is full! How else can I go about making a reservation??
This one was from Sheryll (a fan of my blog she told me).

Of course we love all the phone calls. Please continue to call. But if you get a busy signal, a rollover, our GM’s sparkling voice instructing you to press zero all to no avail, please don’t give up on us. All our lines are ringing and we are trying to return calls as quickly as possible.

But here are a few other suggestions:
1. Go to the reservation link on our website. Here you go, click this

2. If you are trying to reserve for a large party, anything above 6 people please email our events coordinator Julie directly at julie@voltrestaurant.com

3. Looking for Table 21? We have a few dates open here and there and you wont be able to book it online. Please email our GM at christopher@voltrestaurant.com

4. Questions about wines or anything else beverage related please email our bevs director at neil@voltrestaurant.com

5. General questions, compliments, complaints - try info@voltrestaurant.com. That one goes to all of us.

6. Looking to join this crazy cast of characters? Try employment@voltrestaurant.com

Our website has general information. Menus are changed daily but those posted are true for the season.

I hope this helps. Let me know - you can find me at hilda@voltrestaurant.com

Have plans this Tuesday?

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

I mean its not Top Chef night or my other favorite Project Runway night, so what else is there to do but spend some quality time with some of the hottest chef’s around?

In the spirit of commitment to children and global giving, noted chef Art Smith will host the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund Dinner. He will share the stove with Chefs Eric Ziebold of Cityzen, Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve, Todd Gray of Equinox, Morou Ouattara of Kora, RJ Cooper of Vidalia, Spike Mendelsohn of Good Stuff Eatery and our very own Bryan Voltaggio to prepare a Fall Feast to benefit the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund USA.

The event takes place on Tuesday, October 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Art & Soul Restaurant.

For more information or to purchase tickets visit nelsonmandelachildrensfundusa.org

Since our Poe dinner sold out in a matter of minutes (and I actually got scolded for squeezing some friends in) this is your chance to get in some quality time with the VOLT crew. Hey like I always say, nothing spells success like getting yelled at by the VOLT staff. Come on out. Its for a good cause!

And you may even run into me eating something like this chicken lollipop.

Yeah you guessed it. I only post this picture to make up for the hunting picture. Come on folks. I can’t believe so many people had no clue that was me under all that gear. And I have to say I haven’t received so many comments since the pig incident.

Poe Menu

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

I just posted our Tribute to Edgar Allan Poe Menu. To Mark the 200th Anniversary of Poe’s Birth we are featuring two menus on Thursday 10/29. The first, Poe’s Birth menu focuses on Poe’s tumultuous childhood in Boston and includes New England-inspired cuisine, while Poe’s Death menu captures the strange and tragic end of the author’s life and features signature Baltimore dishes.

As usual, the menu looks amazing and I can’t decide between the life or death and it’s on for one night only. What to do? I’m thinking a 5:30 reservation for the life tasting, followed by a jog around Baker Park and back at 9:00 for the death tasting.

The Weinberg is offering great ticket prices for our guests and a portion of dinner proceeds will benefit Frederick Reads. You can read more about the evening here.

Sweetness Courtesy of Visitation

Monday, October 5th, 2009

We invited our neighbor the Visitation Academy Pre-K3’s class to join us for breakfast and we didn’t need to ask twice. The girls were giddy with excitement.

I don’t know if it was us or they were just excited to be on their first field trip.

After breakfast, the girls got a full tour of the kitchen by Chef himself.

They had a peek into the fish file and the walk in

Take a guess which section they went wild over?

Two points for you if you guessed the ice cream drawer. Ice cream sandwiches all around.

Oh and for all of you keeping tattoo count, add the star to the count

Could it get any sweeter than this? I have a hunch we just made young VOLT fans.
